Brewing a Storm.

It all kooks nice and peaceful here, and it is a lovely place to sit late afternoon, early evening. Sometime today the remnants of hurricane Bertha will arrive which may be the end of our garden as we know it. Grange Fell has discovered Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. This obsession may take a while to work through. it's a joy to use and definitely reminds me of distempering the outhouse. Only readers of a certain age will get that. The Magpie (http://www.jocretro.co.uk/#/magpie-in-skipton/4579524617) in Skipton is the supplier, this never happens in my life, usually stuff I want to buy can only bought from somewhere miles away or online. BTW The Magpie sells loads of lovely antiques, and it's own jams and chutneys and is also a micro brewerey.

A very important person.

we made this little living arch a week ago, it took two minutes at most, we just tied the new groth of two saplings together with a bit of garden twine, voila, a triumphal arch fit for royalty. Actually ou
r lovely next door neighbour cuts our lawns and this is the cut through we just thought it was a nice way to say thank you.

Grange Fell Garden

Gardening is a labour of love that's for sure, and I have to admit that I'm a fair weather gardener who's not too keen on the all weather approach. Fortunately gardens are very forgiving friends who don't mind too much.

Window Love.

the first thing I see when I leave my room in the morning. Grange Fell is a lovely Edwardian house and she has some lovely details like these beautiful stained glass windows even on rainy winter days they cheer me up and start the day with a spalsh of colour.

Summer Teatime Treats

Sometimes you just have to make a  cake. It looks enormous but that's just cherries on the top. It's a sort of super enhanced cupcake crossed with a Victoria sandwich, but then there's no fun baking  if you can't make it up now and then.

Studio garden

this view onto the studio garden isone of my favourites, a secret spot where the sun always shines.

Friday, 25 July 2014

Just a glorious day to be in the garden. We are pruning cut branches to re-use as supports and even larger projects. It all looks so easy on the net. We'll see.

I really love the paintings of Lori Field who uses a mixture of
collage and paint to create these  lovely works. When I went into our studio today it was full of butterflies, perhaps that's what reminded me to look at her work again.
