Ahh sleep. Such a fantastic restorative human habit. I like it very much. I am saying this because at 7.32pm I am about to give in.and climb the stairs and go to bed, hoping that my runny nose and eyes are just hayfever symptoms and not a full blown cold.

Weather or Not

Today it's supposed to be raining, in fact it should have been raining for at least six hours, and it's not. We're not saying you can put on your swimming costumes and trunks and have a sunbathe, but it is very pleasant. Having said all of this we might be swimming in a monsoon by the end of the day.
We have lovely happy guests this morning tummies full of fresh eggs bacon, sausages and all the trimmings. It's fab to see everyone tucking in and feeling refreshed after a good nights sleep, especially the chaps who fell through the door yesterday, exhausted after a long walk on the Pennine Way.
We thought we might have a Sunday drive out to Linton today to just sit and enjoy one of our favourite local spots. Simple things like a flask of tea by the river really set you up for the working week.

Full House.

We have now been the keepers of chickens for a couple of months. It took a month for them to start laying and since then rarely a day has gone by without between one and three eggs. Yesterday for the first time we got four, one each. We celebrated with a wonderful cheese and courgette souffle and our guests love eating the freshest eggs available. Well done Mildred Miranda Molly and Milly.

Busy Spring Days

it feels like spring out there. Lambs are in the fields, the sun is shining some daffodils are now opening at long last and the garden studio is bathed in sunlight.
In Skipton' lovely Oxfam bookshop I managed to find a lovely set of arty books and leaflets and a 3D Royal Opera House in card ready to be assembled.
Also managed to pick up some plumbers jointing compound so tomorrows studio project is to make some small paper sculptures based on clumps of whelks and seashells.

Pots paints and ribbon boxes

all the hard work is starting to show dividends and the little craft basement is lovely to work in. The garden studio makeover is ongoing.
This evening has been lovely to sit at a small work station and just make with everything in reaching distance. Just small works more to see how the space works than anything else but a great practical space. Hopefully the garden studio will be much more spacious with all the craft stuff moved out. The idea of dedicated spaces is really taking shape. If we get the trench dug and the kiln re-wired we'll be able to do some raku firing.

New spaces

We have been very busy here at Grange Fell, we are artists and makers and have always worked from the garden studio, but we have decided to separate the Fine art from the craft and have created a great basement craft room, for textiles, jewellery making and paper crafts in the basement. Now we will have a much more spacious painting and printing studio in the garden. It's not finished yet however by the end of next week we will be finished and the studio will be much more spacious and airy with possibly enough space to create a small gallery area.
